For the past ten years Tahanee has actively served the community of the greater Boston and Cambridge area as a promising upcoming designer and artist. She is also a single parent and the mother of four great young adults. A native born Bostonian, who's origin is of African American, Native American Indian, and Portuguese descent. Tahanee is a multi-talented artist whose talents spread over a sizeable and colorful spectrum of the arts. She is a designer who specializes in one of a kind high-end fashion wear. Her designs are trendy, culturally rich, and extremely creative. Tahanee cuts, pins, and hand sews all her work herself, to drawing art on fabric, to hand sewn sequins embellished bead work. Her talents also encompass a vast array of artistic skills ranging from designing fashion showcases, poetry writing, fashion illustration, coordinator, consultant, and director of fashion. Tahanee is also a vocalist, does interior design, and has a passion for the film and the motion picture industry.
Throughout the years she has won several awards for her artistic and creative endeavors. In particular in 1992 at Newbury College she was awarded first place for Best Costume Design. In 1994 at the Boston Designers Collaborative Ball she was awarded first place for Best Ethnic Design and Best Funky Outrageous Wear by Denise Hajjar, BDC President. Tahanee's people of interest range from anywhere from average women to women in showbiz, for instance Tahanee has created designs for former WB recording artist Phajja. Her designs have also appeared at the Design Industries Foundation for AIDS/Boston, where one hundred Levi Denim jackets were transformed into wearable works of art by the world's leading designers and celebrities. She also won recognition at the Nieman Marcus and Levi-Strauss & Company Fashion Extravaganza and auction in 1994.
Most recently and to date, Tahanee is the 1st place winning designer of New Day Associates 16th Annual National Designer of year competition held November 24th, 2002 in Elizabeth, New Jersey at the Wyndham Hotel, presented by President and founder John Blassingame. On December zo", 2002 at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Tahanee was spotlighted and promoted by Ingrid Owens, the Director of the Miss USA Pageant at the Lee Bailey Radioscope Christmas Party. Tahanee's fashions were viewed before millions of people on Radioscope via Internet and radio. Tahanee said, "I am embarking on my journey and adventure, and building my career by piecing the love of life and passion for the arts, together to form a lasting creative artistic expression."
